Sausage and Sauerkraut Bake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) smoked sausage or kielbasa, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 jar (24 oz/680 g) sauerkraut, drained
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) chicken broth or water
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and golden, about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sautéed onions, drained sauerkraut, brown sugar, and caraway seeds. Mix well.
- Spread half of the sauerkraut mixture in a baking dish.
- Place the sausage pieces evenly on top of the sauerkraut layer.
