  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

For the Apple Mixture:

  • 2 large apples, peeled and chopped
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk or cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Make Cinnamon Sugar:
    • In a small bowl, mix 1/3 cup light brown sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. Prepare Apple Mixture:
    • In another bowl, combine the chopped apples with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Set aside.
  4. Make the Batter:
    • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, beat together the white sugar and butter until smooth and creamy.
    • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    • Mix in the vanilla extract.
    • In a separate bowl, combine the flour and baking powder.
    • Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.
  5. Layer and Swirl:
    • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
    • Add half of the apple mixture, followed by half of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
    • Pour the remaining batter on top, then add the rest of the apple mixture and the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.
    • Use a knife or a skewer to swirl the batter slightly.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
    • If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil for the last 10-15 minutes of baking.
  7. Cool and Glaze:
    • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then remove from the pan and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
    • Once the bread is completely cool, mix the powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze. Drizzle it over the bread.
