Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (rye or your choice)
  • 2-3 tablespoons liverwurst (or liver pâté)
  • 1-2 tablespoons mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1-2 slices of pickles (dill or bread-and-butter)
  • 1-2 leaves of lettuce (optional)
  • 1-2 slices of tomato (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread:
  • If desired, toast the slices of bread lightly to add some crunch.
  1. Spread the Liverwurst:
  • Evenly spread 2-3 tablespoons of liverwurst onto one side of each slice of bread. Use a knife or spatula to smooth it out.
  1. Add Mustard:
  • Spread 1-2 tablespoons of mustard on top of the liverwurst on one of the slices of bread. Adjust the amount according to your taste.

  1. Add Pickles and Veggies:
  • Place the pickle slices on top of the mustard. If you’re using lettuce and tomato, layer them on top of the pickles. Season with a bit of salt and pepper if desired.
  1. Assemble the Sandwich:
  • Place the other slice of bread, liverwurst side down, on top of the layered ingredients to complete the sandwich.
  1. Cut and Serve:

  • Cut the sandwich in half if desired and serve immediately.
