Ingredients:
For the brownies:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
For the icing:
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup of milk
3 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat and prepare:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Butter a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
Prepare the brownie batter:
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
In another bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until well combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
Bake the brownies:
Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
Prepare the frosting:
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
Gradually add the cocoa powder and mix until well combined.
Slowly add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, alternating with the milk. Beat until smooth and creamy.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Frost the brownies:
Once the brownies have cooled, spread the frosting evenly on top.
Cut into squares and enjoy!
