INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs
200g sugar
200ml vegetable oil
200ml milk
1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
250g wheat flour
1 envelope of chemical yeast (baking powder)
25g cocoa powder
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a cake tin.
Prepare the ingredients: Separate the eggs and reserve the whites in a large bowl. In another bowl, beat the yolks with the sugar until they are creamy and light in color. Add the oil, milk and vanilla essence, and mix well.
Add the flour and yeast: Sift the flour and yeast over the yolk and sugar mixture. Mix until smooth and homogeneous.
Whip the whites until stiff: In the bowl with the egg whites, beat with an electric mixer until stiff and form soft peaks.
Add the egg whites to the mixture: Add the whipped egg whites to the dough mixture and mix with circular motions until well combined.
Divide the dough and add the cocoa: Divide the dough into two equal parts. In one part, add the cocoa powder and mix well.
Assemble the cake: Pour a large spoonful of white batter into the center of the prepared pan. Next, pour a large spoonful of cocoa batter directly into the center of the white batter. Alternate the batters, pouring each one into the center of the previous one, until all the batters have been used.
Create the zebra design: Once you have alternated all the doughs, take a toothpick or knife and make spiral movements from the center outwards to create the zebra design.
Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Cool and serve: Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and let it cool completely on a rack before cutting and serving.
And that’s it! Now you have a delicious zebra cake ready to enjoy. Enjoy it!
