15 Minute Mongolian Beef is full of flavor and super easy to make. In the time it takes to cook rice, you can have delicious restaurant quality Mongolian beef ready to serve on top. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked white rice for serving

Instructions:

  1. Coat the Beef: In a bowl, toss the sliced flank steak with cornstarch until well coated.
  2. Sear the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the coated beef slices and sear until browned on all sides. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add Aromatics: Push the seared beef to one side of the skillet. Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the empty side of the skillet. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Make the Sauce: Combine soy sauce, water, and brown sugar. Pour the mixture over the beef, stirring to coat the beef slices.
  5. Simmer: Allow the sauce to simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until it thickens and coats the beef.
  6. Add Green Onions: Toss in sliced green onions and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the green onions are slightly wilted but still vibrant.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds. Serve the Mongolian beef over cooked white rice.
